This version of the Bike Routes map uses fill colors and road symbols created for a new "personal" style, that can be accessed with any of the pre-existing styles in ArcMap. I found that some subdued colors that looked good together in Kuler didn't show up very well when put onto the map.

This is my original "Bike Routes of Buncombe County project" map, which was designed to be printed large (33"x44"). 

We hadn't done much with color or symbology yet, so I experimented with different combinations of ESRI colors  until I found what looked OK to me.

Working with Styles assignment.
I used the kuler.adobe site to create compatible colors for symbols on this map of Buncombe County, and as a starting point for color ramps for elevation and hillshade. I found that the colors didn't look quite the same in ArcMap as they did in Kuler, so ended up tweaking them a lot.
